On March 6, 2025, the Biological Control through Conservation (CBC) team welcomed 18 fruit growers and 3 technical advisors for a morning of discussions on the research conducted in the orchards at the workshop site. For more than 10 years, these orchards have served as an observatory where scientists study the dynamics of pests and beneficial insects in the context of changing landscapes and agricultural practices.
The program included a presentation on ecological monitoring of the codling moth, the main pest in apple orchards. The day also provided an opportunity to present other research topics: the granulosis virus and its resistance, experiments in biological control (nematodes, parasitoids), and new agroecological levers tested against the ash aphid (Diver'ant project). Ornithological and chiropterological monitoring was also presented to characterize the functional biodiversity of orchards.
This meeting strengthened ties between researchers and producers, enabling constructive dialogue on the challenges of agroecological transition and reducing the use of plant protection products. It paves the way for further collaboration to co-develop the innovations of tomorrow.
