“Farmer groups to manage agrobiodiversity across Europe”

The FRAMEwork project is based on a consortium of research institutes and universities in Europe that will work closely with farmers, advisory and extension services, SMEs, and governmental and non-governmental organizations to develop and promote examples of biodiversity-friendly agricultural practices. The project aims to enable farmers to be the main actors in managing agrobiodiversity on their farms. It is based on a bottom-up approach. The project activities are structured around 12 pilot groups of farmers in eight European countries. The goal of this organization is for conservation priorities to be those determined by farmers, while remaining consistent with public conservation demands at the regional, national, and global levels. The project aims to co-construct new pathways for biodiversity-friendly agriculture by developing biodiversity diagnostic tools and training in these tools to raise farmers' awareness of biodiversity. FRAMEwork's ambition is to deeply root interest in biodiversity in the thinking about practices of the main actors involved in agriculture beyond the life of the project.
