Using automatic microphones installed in the countryside, researchers capture and analyze soundscapes to better understand the richness of life around us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why is this important?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our countryside is made up of a mosaic of farmland, meadows, and forests. Each landscape has its own \u201csound signature\u201d: birdsong, the rustling of the wind, the sound of water, but also sounds associated with human activity. By analyzing these sounds, we can assess the health and diversity of these ecosystems without disturbing the animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How does it work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Audio recorders are installed at a dozen sites across eight regions of France.
